Tai Shan, also known as Butterstick is a giant panda born at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, D.C on July 9, 2005. Before he got the name Tai Shan, he was referred to as "Butterstick" because after the birth a zoo worker described him as being about the size of a stick of butter.
